The Crate did the job and I'd be fine if I had to play out with it again. But the PS700 does a better job and seems to sound better at all volumes. I've done the thing where something sounds off in certain venues, requiring tweaks in the global EQ settings of the GT100, and that is invariably inconvenient as compared to reaching over and making subtle adjustments on the front of the PS700. Having said that, I really like the tone controls on the PS700. It just makes whatever I have dialed in on the modeler very loud.
I also think the PS700 does a better job of staying out of the way of the modeler (GT100) than the Crate did. I never thought the Crate's mono XLR out sounded very good straight to the board, but the two XLR outs on the PS700 (with a toggle for cab sims on or off) sound excellent. Turns out - quite a bit, both feature-wise and sound-wise. That's been OK but I wanted to see how much difference the PS700 would make.
Like several others of you, up until now I've been using a Crate PowerBlock.
I actually went ahead and bought a PowerStage 700 after finding a used one at a good price.
